Steering Committee Meeting #3

On August 8, 2023 the project team met with members of the Steering Committee to give them an update on the project, provide some preliminary results, and discuss next steps.

Georgia Climate Conference

On May 16, 2023, team members Ashby Worley (TNC) and Dr. Matthew Bilskie (UGA) hosted a panel at the Georgia Climate Conference called Resilience and Restoration of Coastal Ecosystems. Panelists included:

  • Jan McKinnon (Coastal and Ocean Management Program, Georgia DNR)

  • Shawn Gillen (City Manager, Tybee Island)

  • Scott Pippin (Public Service Associate; Strategic Operations and Planning Assistance, UGA)

  • Jose Rolando (PhD Candidate, GA Tech)

  • Josiah “Jazz” Watts (Justice Strategist, 100 Miles)

The discussion covered a range of topics related to nature-based solutions, including equity, implementation, challenges, successes, and action steps.

Steering Committee Meeting #4

On November 30, 2023 the project team met with members of the Steering Committee to provide an update on the socio-economic analysis and offer an overview of how natural assets are being insured. Committee members also participated in a Mural Board activity to share their knowledge and input on hazards, benefits, and insurance.

March 26, 2024

Virtual Meeting

On March 26, 2024 the project team met with members of the Steering Committee to provide project updates. Topics discussed included an update on the socio-economic analysis, news on natural asset insurance, and a review of stakeholder interview and mural results.

Steering Committee Meeting #6

July 23, 2024

Virtual Meeting

On July 23, 2024 the project team met with members of the Steering Committee to provide a summary of the project’s results and to review initial drafts of products produced from this study (including a StoryMap, technical report, journal article, fact sheet, and infographic). Steering Committee members were offered the ability to provide feedback on these products during the meeting as well as after the meeting via email.
